a bay area teenager snatched and dragged. how she managed to get away. good evening. i'm ann notarangelo. >> and i'm ken bastida. kiet do just got the surveillance video. >> reporter: san jose police admit they need some help in this. they do not have any leads. you'd think that the folks who live out there would be living in fear and afraid. not so. this is a tough, tightly-knit neighborhood and they are angry. look closely and you'll see the victim get snatched from behind and dragged into a dark driveway. we'll play it back for you one more time. police say it was a violent struggle. she screamed and fought back and it got to attention of neighbors. 14 seconds later, the teenager breaks free and runs down the streak. frankie tavares captured the event on a network of infrared cameras. >> you don't come to a neighborhood like this and do that. any neighborhood. but there are sick people out

there. >> reporter: it happened on 33rd and st. james, just after 6 in the morning last friday. police released this sketch, saying the suspect wore blue dickeys work pants with brown shoes that were stained with white paint. they say the girl put up a fight. >> it was a fighting situation. she fought back valiantly and was able to escape. >> reporter: the neighbor came running out the street barefoot in his pajamas when he heard the cry for help. he even got in the car and circled the neighborhood. >> had you caught him, what would have happened to him? >>

heavier showers toward oakland and richmond currently. i'm going to zoom out and show you what's down in the south. we still have several hours to go before we can say good-bye to the rainfall, likely impacting the morning commute tomorrow. i'll talk about which weekend day is looking wet, coming up in a few minutes. >> paul, thank you, a lot of people in the bay area with apple stock are going to wake up tomorrow morning and wonder, what is it worth? tonight it's not looking so great. apple posted a $13.1 billion profit for its fourth quarter, just slightly more than the same quarter last year. and that sent apple stock down 10% in after-hours trading. many analysts are concerned that people's interest in the iphone isn't what it used to be. manti te'o fesses up finally. the football star is telling his side of the story and he is admitting that he kept up the story about his girlfriend even though he knew it was a lie.

francisco's city hall, all lit up, in red and gold. get used to it. as for the niners, we got our first look at them on the field since their championship game. >> and dennis o'donnell is here. a lot of work for the niners to do. what do they have to accomplish between now and super bowl? >> first of all, even players without siblings suddenly have 21 brothers and sisters. it's amazing. if you're not careful, you became a ticket broker. one of the biggest challenges for a super bowl-bound football team is to avoid distractions. the 49ers announced they will arrive in new orleans around 5:30 p.m. on sunday. they've got the infamous media day on tuesday. friday, jim and john harbaugh will hold a joint press conference. so these practices are important because they come without super distractions.

left to raise their children alone. well, make way for gi jane. the pentagon said it will lift its ban and allow women to be sent to the frontlines. they could even serve as elite commandos. cbs 5 reporter david martin says first there's one thing they'll have to prove. >> reporter: the defense secretary order will make women eligible to serve on combat patrol. however, women will have to meet strength standards that could keep them out of units where the physical demands are especially grueling. combat operations in iraq and afghanistan have already cost more than 130 women their lives and left more than 800 wounded. some, like dawn, were on the frontlines, commanding a platoon in iraq, where she lost her arm fighting alongside the infantry. >> there's not a big difference at all. a lot of the missions we did

with infantry and artillery units. we were all fighting the same fight. >> reporter: the best machine gunners in the platoon was victoria rivers, who was tapped to go on missions with special forces. >> i was side by side with special forces, and it was pretty cool. >> reporter: but rivers acknowledges some military jobs may be too demanding for women. >> they just don't have the physical strength to do it. >> reporter: panetta's order will open 200,000 more jobs to women, primarily in the army and marines, where combat experience is considered a prerequisite for promotion to the top jobs. they will have to the end of 2015 to actually implement the changes. a san jose mom and daughter are headed for the super bowl. >> they're winners of the 49ers

♪ ♪ get in the car and go ♪ ♪ >> reporter: they are members of the rock band who share memories of the mud slide-prone highway. >> we were scaried because of the name when we were kids, devil's slide. >> reporter: the pair is selling its last ride and t- shirts they designed showing a devil and a pair of dice for the gamble of riding the slide. >> we've been selling them like crazy. i can't even keep the guy printing them fast enough. >> reporter: they say they're marking the end of an era. >> the road has an energy up there. it's wild. >> everything from people driving over the cliff to, you know, partying a little too much and falling over when they were hiking or something. i mean, there's all kinds of crazy stuff that's gone on there. >> reporter: caltrans is putting the finishing touches on the tunnels and expects to

we are still picking up showers, light to moderate in the south bay. good evening to you in san jose and los gatos. you're getting light to moderate rain showers. and tonight we all will see showers and marynly cloudy skies. we're not going to get chilly. kids at the bus stop in oakland, 46 degrees tomorrow morning. here's the setup in the atmosphere. we have a front coming down from the north, which is colliding with moisture coming up from the south. when things go like this, they're going to have to go up. when you get air going up, you get rainfall. up and down the california coastline, still a lot of moisture to our south. we're going to continue to see that streaming in overnight tonight. actually the forecast has changed a bit. some of you will see showers in the south bay all the way likely until tomorrow afternoon. that is a change. for most of you, thursday will dry out in the afternoon. friday will be completely dry because of that area of high pressure moving out of here for
